Frequently Asked Questions

Who leads The Blooming Lotus Play Garden?
The program is lovingly guided by Andrea, a mother, Waldorf student, and former fashion professional with a background in textiles, merchandising, and material curation. Her expertise in natural fibers, fabric quality, and sensory-rich materials deeply influences the selection of toys, play silks, musical instruments, and seasonal items used in the program.
Andrea brings both a reverence for childhood and an eye for beauty—blending her creative design experience with Waldorf principles to craft a nurturing, intentional space where parents and children can slow down and bloom together.

What is The Blooming Lotus Play Garden?
The Blooming Lotus is a Waldorf-inspired, Spanish immersion nature program for children ages 15 months to 3 years and their caregivers. Rooted in rhythm, connection, and the magic of childhood, we gather outdoors to sing, play, and learn while we grow together in community.
-
What is Waldorf education, and how is it reflected in your program?
Waldorf education honors the development of the whole child—head, heart, and hands. In our setting, this looks like unhurried mornings in nature, storytelling and music instead of screens, and child-led play with natural materials. We focus on rhythm, simplicity, and connection to the seasons (We will focus on Autumn, Winter, and Spring)
-
Do I need to speak Spanish to participate?
Not at all! Our classes are led fully in Spanish, but no prior knowledge is needed. Children absorb language naturally through song, rhythm, and repetition. Parents often find they begin to learn alongside their child through the joy of play.
-
What should we bring to class?
A water bottle , a snack, and weather-appropriate clothing (include sunscreen and mosquito repellent), and a change of clothes (just in case)
-
Will my child actually learn here?
Yes! Our program follows a Waldorf-inspired curriculum that is designed for early childhood. While we don’t teach academics at this age, your child is learning every day — through songs, stories, play, and seasonal activities that support language, movement, imagination, and social skills. It feels like play, but it’s deeply meaningful learning.
-
How many families are in each class? and can I bring my older child?
Each pod is limited to 10 kids max. to preserve intimacy, rhythm, and connection.
Our program is intentionally designed for children 15 months to about 3 years old, a stage known in Waldorf education as the imitation phase. At this age, little ones learn best through rhythm, songs, movement, and sensory play. Older children often need different types of engagement and can unintentionally shift the gentle flow of the group. For this reason, we keep the program focused on the youngest toddlers, so every child can fully benefit from the experience.
-
What role does nature play in your program?
Nature is our classroom, our teacher, and our rhythm keeper. We meet outdoors in all safe weather conditions because we believe that children thrive in fresh air, surrounded by the beauty and consistency of the natural world. The changing seasons guide our stories, songs, and activities. Rain becomes wonder. Wind becomes movement. Earth becomes home. Through daily connection with the outdoors, children build resilience, reverence, and a quiet sense of belonging.
-
Can I drop my child off?
No. This is a parent-and-me program. Caregivers are encouraged to participate gently, observing and supporting without directing. This is a time to slow down and be present together.
-
What happens if we miss a class?
We allow up to 2 make-up classes per month, space permitting. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you on another day.
-
Is there a commitment?
Yes. We follow a September–May rhythm and ask for monthly commitment. Withdrawal requires a written notice at least 2 weeks before the end of the month to avoid the next month’s charge. Registration and materials fee are non-refundable.
-
How much does it cost?
Our program is designed to be flexible, with options for families who want to join for a season as well as those who are ready to commit for the full year. We also offer a one-time trial class so you can experience our rhythm before enrolling.
A one-time Enrollment & Materials Fee is required to secure your space.
-
How do I sign up?
Visit our Programs Page to select your preferred pod and submit your form. We’ll confirm your spot and send a welcome letter with next steps. (I’ll share full details — including schedule, seasonal session dates, and payment options — during or after your trial class)
-
What if my child doesn’t want to participate in circle time or structured activities?
That’s completely okay—and developmentally normal. Our program honors each child’s unique rhythm. Some children prefer to observe quietly before engaging, and we trust their natural timing. Everything we offer is invitational, not forced. Your presence and patience help create the safe, warm environment they need to blossom.
